How was the Performance for Each Sector in Taiwan's Plastics and Rubber Industry?
During 2021 one of the main concerns in every industry in the world was how COVID is going to develop, and how it is going to affect the market and the situation around the world.
Such as 2020, 2021 was unpredictable and as we mention during the end of the first year of pandemic (2020) there were some sectors of the industry that got more affected than others.
In 2021 was the same situation, some industries such as bag making machine manufacturers and Recycling machine manufacturers got really well performance in comparison with 2020, but also in the other hand we have some sectors such as Blow moulding machinery and thermoforming manufacturers that got affected in a negative way due pandemic.
When we came to analyse the overall performance in our platform, we got a slight increase of 9.9% in pageviews, with a total of 930,700 in a year. Asia still the first for what concerns as continent by pageviews with total of 62%, in second place there is America, including Latin American countries with a percentage around 14.79% and third one we have Africa with 11.5%
For international buyers' requirements, 2021 within our 15 categories we have the most required category was Plastic Converting Machines, then we have Extruders and Extrusion Lines and third one Auxiliary Equipment and Integrated Automation.
For some sectors of the industry it was not as bright as the categories mentioned before, for example Shoe Making Machinery, Thermoforming Machinery and Finished/Semi-finished products, we can consider that were not the first option for business when it comes to renew equipment.
Related to Inquiries, in comparison with 2019 and 2020, which one has decreased, which one got more benefit during pandemic?
During 2020 we got an increase in inquiries due to the cancellation or the postponement of Exhibition or Trade Fairs around the world, therefore most companies were looking for machinery using different online tools, such as B2B platforms. As we can see during 2020 other than the Packaging machinery category, all others have increased trend.
Once we analyse 2021 the numbers came back to normal levels, comparable with the 2019 Inquiries number.
There were 3 Categories or sectors in the industry that increase in number of inquiries in comparison with 2020, these are:
1. Plastic Converting Machinery
2. Printing Machinery
3. Rubber Processing Machinery
For this 2022 the market behaviour is still hard to give an accurate prediction since COVID still changing week by week.
