The enormous international presence offers trade professionals the unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of innovations from every corner of the globe that are specially tailored to the Russian market.

Exhibition Overview:
This year’s Interplastica had 950 exhibitors from 32 countries to the tune of 25,000 visitors came to the AO Expocenter in Krasnaja Presnja, Moscow which seeked information on the extensive ranges exhibitors.

After a period of stagnation in 2016 and a -2.8 % recession in 2015, Russia saw a new growth phase start in 2017 with 1.5 % GNP growth. Four years after the sanctions were imposed and the oil price dropped the Russian economy has adapted to the new circumstances and managed to grow again.

PRM’s surveys conducted throughout the exhibition have proven this to be true. Most visitors weren’t only just visiting the exhibitions, but they were determined to make a deal on the spot. On top of that, our exhibiting booth was endlessly packed with buyers showing high interest towards Taiwanese manufacturers; justifying the above statements.
Opportunities for Taiwanese Manufacturer:
As the world is moving into industry 4.0 to greatly decrease the use of human resources, the market need in Russia may be different. High-end machines may cost more than 3 times the price of a Taiwanese machine, which might be costly for many businesses in Russia. For instance, despite of high end machines decrease labor cost, buying two machines with a greater production rate at a cost of more operators may be a more feasible investment return choice.

This opens a lot of opportunities to Taiwanese manufacturers. Through visitor feedback from Interplastica 2019, many visitors don’t actually want to go through agencies. They much prefer contacting manufacturers directly. However, the language barrier has proven to be very troublesome. Another problem to face is the logistic disadvantages Taiwanese companies must face compared to European manufacturers. If Taiwanese companies come up with solutions for these issues, the Russian market is looking very bright for Taiwan.

In conclusion, Interplastica 2019 has proven to be a great success. Besides, Russians are quite similar to Taiwanese people. They are full of warmth and passion. Although it takes time to set up better relations, Taiwanese and Russians are definitely suitable business partners.

The next Interplastica in Moscow will be held from 28 to 31 January 2020.
